Our Business

Total Gas & Power is one of the leading energy suppliers to industrial, commercial and business customers within the UK. Part of the Total Group of businesses, Total Gas & Power is a market leader in the UK gas supply market and has been supplying electricity since 2001.

Established since 1987 - when the gas market deregulated, Total Gas & Power now supplies over 50,000 sites across all market sectors: small and medium businesses, large industrial and commercial companies, as well as the public service and non-profit organizations. We supply natural gas to many thousands of sites across the UK, making us the market leader in this highly competitive industry.

We focus on the particular energy requirements of the business user and have developed the specific skills and experience to offer this market sector a superior service, competitive prices, and a set of innovative products.

As a company with a long history in gas and power, and more recently in renewable energy technologies, we have learned to be at the forefront of a changing market place, where we remain responsive and flexible and ensure that our core values and objectives are embedded within our organisation.

Our teams of dedicated staff members always ensure a personal and professional service for all our customers. These teams are based in one of our three offices: Redhill in Surrey, London and Leeds in West Yorkshire. We also have a network of field-based Account Managers located across the UK enabling us to form an individual relationship with our customers.

Our History

The company was formed as AGAS Ltd, in 1987 and became the first independent supplier to contract gas for direct sales into the UK market. In 1996 AGAS became a wholly owned subsidiary of their long time shareholder, Elf Aquitaine. The company changed its name to Elf Business Energy in 1999, and now to Total Gas & Power to symbolise the growing integration with other parts of the Group.

Total was created through two successive mergers, the first when the former Total joined with the Belgian oil company Petrofina to form Totalfina, and the second when Totalfina combined with French oil company, Elf Aquitaine to create TotalFinaElf. On 7th May 2003 the Group re-branded as Total S.A., uniting the three brands.
